The Brazilian Theological School in Australia (ETEBAU) is an institution dedicated to equipping men, women, and young people committed to the teaching of God’s Word, promoting the spiritual and theological growth of the Christian community in Australia and beyond.

Foundations and Beginnings

The school’s project began even before it was formally established as a physical institution. Under Pastor Juarez’s leadership, theological courses were offered through written materials distributed among those eager to deepen their biblical knowledge. As 2 Timothy 2:2 teaches: “And the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable people who will also be qualified to teach others.” Students would receive books, study independently, and submit exams later. This early phase was characterized by a commitment to sharing Christian doctrine in an accessible, though not yet structured, in-person format.

School Consolidation

​

In 2013, under the leadership of Pastor and Professor Davi Passos, ETEBAU took a significant step towards formalizing theological education. The first in-person classes were held in a flat in the city of Rockhampton, QLD, starting with a class of 12 students. As demand steadily grew, the school relocated to larger venues, expanded its structure, and began offering basic, intermediate, and advanced levels. Classes were also established in congregations and in cities such as Mackay and Biloela, QLD, consolidating the school’s reach.

During this period, many students who had previously abandoned their studies due to the lack of in-person classes were brought back and reintegrated. While the pandemic posed new challenges, it also encouraged the school to adopt online classes, broadening its horizons and reaching a wider audience. As Romans 8:28 says: “We know that all things work together for the good of those who love God, who are called according to His purpose.”

Growth and Impact

Today, ETEBAU offers training up to bachelor’s and postgraduate levels in Australia. With a history that has already impacted many lives, including graduates and participants in its teaching programs, ETEBAU continues to expand its influence in theological education. Its reach extends beyond Australian borders, impacting Brazil and other countries.

​​The school now operates with academically trained and qualified teachers, ensuring quality teaching and learning. ETEBAU emphasizes that excellence requires dedication to learning. It continues to grow, now with mentors in theology and partnerships with several theological schools to better serve its students. These partnerships include IBAD, EETAD, REFIDIM, EDUC CETADEP, IBADEP, and the Jerusalem Theological School, among others. Moreover, its teaching materials and certifications are recognized by evangelical churches in Brazil and Australia, as well as by the CGADB (General Convention of the Assemblies of God in Brazil).

The school also counts among its instructors those who were trained through ETEBAU itself, reflecting the success of this ambitious academic project in Australia. The live online classes provide students direct interaction with instructors, allowing for immediate answers to questions and a more interactive learning experience.

The school’s primary mission is to equip workers and disciple brothers and sisters, preparing them for a deep understanding of God’s Word and sound doctrine. As 2 Timothy 3:16–17 states: “All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.”

Mission and Purpose

ETEBAU’s goal is not merely to distribute theoretical materials but to equip Christians with biblical truth, strengthening them spiritually. In addition, the school organizes C.O.L. (Worker and Leadership Training) biblical seminars in partnership with local churches, focusing on Scripture knowledge and the spiritual maturity of congregations.

Future Vision

Remaining faithful to its mission, ETEBAU seeks to expand its teaching initiatives, reaching not only the Brazilian community in Australia but also people from other nations and languages, all while maintaining its commitment to excellence in teaching God’s Word. The school believes that a well-structured and mature church emerges where people hunger for the Lord’s Word. As Psalm 119:105 says: “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.”

ETEBAU remains steadfast in its purpose of being a guiding light in theological training, equipping spiritual leaders to impact generations and fulfill Jesus’ command: “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you” (Matthew 28:19–20).
